Huron Perth Public Health is adjusting vaccine appointments based on supply of vaccines.
Currently no clinics are open to book appointments.
HPPH says that additional clinics will be added when further vaccine supplies are delivered.
HPPH also wants to clear the air about eligibility for vaccines as only people 65 and older are eligible at this time.
“We understand that many people are eager to be vaccinated, and that is a good thing,” says Dr. Klassen, Medical Officer of Health for Huron Perth. “There will be enough vaccine for all Ontarians. Everyone who wants to be vaccinated will eventually have the opportunity to be vaccinated. We thank everyone for their patience and remind people to be kind if calling HPPH. Abusive language will not be tolerated.”
Educational workers who support students with complex needs are eligible for vaccines but there is no availability in clinics until the first week of May.
These staff are defined as those who support students who meet one or more of the following criteria:
- require support with activities of daily living, including health and safety measures
- are unable to wear masks for medical reasons
- have complex medical needs
- cannot be accommodated through remote learning.
Other education staff in Huron-Perth are not able to book appointments yet.
A full list of those who are currently eligible for the vaccine can be found on our website at www.hpph.ca/vaccinebooking.
