Over 20 million rounds of golf played by over 1.8 million golfers last year in the province with no known cases of COVID-19 transmission. Reason enough to permit outdoor activities, including golf, implore five golf industry groups in a document sent to Premier Doug Ford last week.
Shawn Hunter, regional director of the National Golf Course Owners Association of Canada, stresses recent articles from the medical community across the province indicate outdoor transmission of the coronavirus is extremely rare.
Hunter adds, golf has important mental and physical health benefits while courses operate with established, safe protocols.
The industry groups represent 800 courses and 110,000 employees in the province.
