A slow measured reopening of the Province was announced by Ontario Premier Doug Ford on Thursday. He announced a gradual 3 step road map based on vaccination targets.
Premier Ford encourages everyone to ensure they are getting their vaccine. Ford urged the Federal government to once again look at the border measures.
Health Minister Christine Elliott announced that most outdoor facilities will be open starting on Saturday. Golf courses, and tennis courts included, and outdoor gatherings of up to 5 people.
Step 1- resuming outdoor activities with small gatherings of 10 people outside, some non-essential businesses at 15 percent, and outdoor dining up to 4 people.
Step 2- more outdoor activities and gathering limits up to 25 people. Personal care services and religious services could also open at 15 percent.
Step 3- expand indoor facilities including museums, gyms etc with capacity limits.
All steps will be implemented in 21 day increments…with step one slated for June 14.
When asked about schools, the Premier said that there are differing opinions. Says some doctors including Dr. Williams want schools open. Ford says some doctors want schools to stay closed and he pointed at alleged injunctions by teachers unions. Says we need to get around the table and finalize things.
