Premier Doug Ford has announced that the Ontario government has made the difficult decision to continue with remote learning for all elementary and secondary students across the province for the remainder of this school year, with the hopes of the return to in-person learning in September.
The Premier said that recent modeling by the Science Advisory Table revealed a return to in-person learning could see an increase of 6-11 percent of new daily COVID-19 cases.
Ford added he wants to work with school boards to ensure all students, not just those in grades 8 and 12, are able to have a graduation ceremony outdoors at the end of the year.
Ford says that the government is waiting to hear back from Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Williams on if its possible to move up the Provincial reopening plan.
He adds this decision will help ensure everyone has a safe and healthy summer.
