History was made during the Ontario Hockey League draft over the weekend.
16 year old Taya Currie became the first female player to ever be selected in the OHL draft as she went to the Sarnia Sting in the 14th round.
The 5 foot 7 goaltender from Parkhill has been playing with the Triple A boys team for the last 7 years since minor atom in the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs system.
Three local players from the Huron-Perth Lakers were also drafted.
Centre Ethan Martin from Stratford, went in the 4th round to the Windsor Spitfires.
Defenceman Teegan Middleton from Clinton went in the 13th round to the Erie Otters.
And Goderich native, Owen Shore a left winger, went in the 14th round to the Soo Greyhounds.
