A new bakery is opening in Exeter on Main St South. The White Squirrel Bakery is owned by Victoria Allen, who moved to Exeter at the start of the pandemic with her husband who was raised in town to escape the city.
Allen worked in the fine dining industry prior to the pandemic, and once she moved to Exeter she missed being able to pick up a good espresso and a pastry, which lead her to wanting to open her own place.
The bakery will have a wide range of goods, from bread, to pastries based on what’s in season, and a grocery section where shoppers can pick up local goodies.
On top of being all locally sourced, another thing Allen wanted to make sure the bakery was sustainable. All of the packaging is zero waste and carry away coffee cups are backyard bio degradable.
