Students attending school in the Avon Maitland District School Board are being urged to use sidewalk art to recognize diversity during PRIDE month.
Karen Stewart with the Foundation for Enriching Education says the Paintings on Pavement program works well since students are studying from home during the pandemic.
Through their chalk art, students are encouraged to celebrate similarities, embrace individuality and create an awareness to promote inclusivity in their schools as well as in their homes and communities.
There’s enough free chalk for 400 students. Children grades kindergarten through 12 have until June 30th to submit their work.
