With the long weekend here and many people headed to Grand Bend and the Huron County area for some outdoor fun, its important to keep other in mind while you are on the roads headed there.
The Huron County OPP will be running a Civic day long weekend traffic safety campaign so that everyone keeps each other in mind. Huron OPP reported that 84 per cent of this year’s traffic-related deaths with identified casual factors were preventable and were caused by careless driving and actions. As of July 26th, 138 people have died in 131 fatal vehicle collisions. The four leading factors in road deaths are Alcohol/Drugs, Aggressive Driving/Speeding, Driver inattention/Distracted Driving and Lack of seat belt use.
The campaign, which they are calling “Don’t Be the Driver! Drive with Care and Caution Urges Huron OPP” is to remind people that the key to enjoying the long weekend for everyone is to do your part to keep yourself and other safe.
