More than 1,000 homes and businesses in the Middlesex and Lambton counties are set to be connected to fast, reliable broadband internet. Overall, between both counties it will equal almost a $9 million investment.
In Middlesex County, the $7.2 million construction for the broadband infrastructure has already started. The goal is that it creates more economic and educational opportunities in rural and remote areas of Middlesex.
In Lambton County, $1.7 million in broadband infrastructure is being added, with construction already underway. The communities of Thedford, Springvale, Jericho and Jura will be the next to receive the new addition
Monte McNaughton, MPP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex said “This project will connect families, farmers, and shopkeepers across Middlesex and Lambton to a world of opportunities online. From instant communication to making collaborations at work easier, the internet is a tool that helps making life better for everyone”
As of right now, 5,700 homes and businesses in Southwestern Ontario have access to broadband service.
