The Kineto Theater is putting together a celebration to highlight the history of the theater which is one of the oldest continuously operating movie theater in the world.
On Thursday the theater will be showing a film called ‘”The Kineto”, a history of Forest’s Kineto Theatre’ produced by local resident Paul James, his son James and colleague Peter Jensen over the course of a year.
The Theater has been through many eras of film, from silent to talkies, black and white to colour.
The Kineto became a gathering place for the community, and the film being shown Thursday will show the history of the theater, as well as the family that started showing movies in Forest in 1905, who then purchased the theater in 1917.
Ticketholders will also have access to a catalogue of movie music through the years performed by local group “DownTown Jazz”.
