The St Mary’s Curling Club has released their return to play guidelines for the season, though they will continue to adjust them with the constantly changing recommendations.
The first rule in place is that all members, guests, and staff are required to be fully vaccinated to participate in any and all events and they will be required to show proof that it is 14 days or more after their second dose.
Other rules in place are that spectators are not allowed in the lounge, you will be expected to social distance throughout the building, masks are mandatory when you are moving around the building, there will be contract tracing and attendance sheets that you will be asked to fill out at the front door, and there is no club equipment available.
Some other expectations around the building include but are not limited to arriving ready to play, with only shoes left to put on, have a conversation with your team about conformability on the ice when it comes to sweeping, masks are only to be removed n the ice, and wiping rocks down before and after your game.
Building Flow
– Curlers should arrive ready to curl (with the exception of curling shoes) around 10 minutes before the start of your draw.
– Entering through the washrooms, we will set up a warm room in the former mens change room for all to access and put shoes on.
– Curlers should remain in the warm room or bathroom until given notice to proceed to the ice surface.
– No belongings should be left in the change room during your game.
At the end of your game, you should proceed directly upstairs through the doors at the end of sheet C/D.
Curling
– Clubs are able under existing regulations to return to play with minimal protocols (play the game as if COVID-19 did not exist). You should discuss with your team on what each person is comfortable with in regards to sweeping and masking. In some cases, teams may feel more comfortable with only 1 sweeper or remaining masked during play and we leave that totally up to individuals or teams to decided.
– Social distancing markers will be in place on the ice and non delivering teams should use them accordingly.
– Masks may be removed once on the ice surface.
– Two sweepers will be permitted.
– Sweeping behind the t-line will be permitted.
– Rocks should be wiped down before and after your game.
Lounge
– Masks to be worn when travelling around the lounge. Can be removed once seated at your table.
– Your team and your opponents may sit at the same table but there should not be any switching tables or joining other tables.
– Shared snacks will be prohibited.
