Today, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore released his advice for families as the Thanksgiving weekend is upon us, and Halloween is right around the corner. The advice he gave is based on the current gathering rules in place, of 100 people outdoors and 25 people indoors.
His advice for Thanksgiving weekend is if you are planning on gathering outdoors and with fully vaccinated people, masks and social distancing are not needed, but if you are unsure of vaccination status or if someone is unvaccinated, it is recommended you wear a mask.
As for indoor gatherings, Dr. Moore says do what you are comfortable with based on vaccine status.
As for Halloween, Dr. Moore says that the event being a mainly outdoor event is a positive.
Dr. Moore added that thanks to our collective efforts of getting vaccinated, we are able to gather more this year then we were last year for Thanksgiving, as long as all of the public health measures are followed.
