We are expected to find out today what the government is planning for its move beyond current COVID-19 health measures.
Before getting too excited, the chief medical officer of health, Doctor Kieran Moore, has suggested the standing rules won’t be loosened quickly.
The province saw its earlier plans to take the next step in its economic reopening derailed in mid-August, by a spike in cases fuelled by the fourth wave.
Premier Doug Ford has also hinted at a slower pace, to help steer clear of any more lockdowns.
The announcement is scheduled at 2 p.m. today.
In a release, it says the public address will be “to announce Ontario’s plan to safely reopen and manage COVID-19 for the long term.”
