The holiday season is fast approaching and in Exeter there is one event that really kicks off the season: The Lions Lighting of the Park!
The yearly event not only is a great way to bring some festive cheer to the community but also a way to raise some money. Manager of Exeter BIA Laura Connolly says that the event is what kicks off the holiday season for locals.
This year along with the lighting of the park, which is done by a big and little pair from Big Brothers Big Sisters, there is also a 50/50 draw. The draw though has a fun twist.
The Lions club have partnered up with Lipman Family Farms who are going to match money raised. The Lions sell 2,500 tickets, at $2 a ticket they raise $5000, Lipmans will match that with another $5000. That means the winner walks away with $5000 and the Lions get the same amount to give back to the community.
The lights will be lit on November 12th, which lines up with Lipmans “Day of good from the ground up” when they donate to communities across North America where their tomato farms are.
