Richard Webb, a local contractor, has been fined $13,500 for undertaking development activity without the required permits from the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority. Webb pleaded guilty to constructing shoreline walls in front of four properties along the shoreline of Lake Huron in the Beach O’Pines subdivision.
Landowners have also been charged for the work, one of who has pleaded guilty and the other two are still before the court.
The ABCA say that the prosecution and fine send a reminder to contractors and landowners for them to ensure that they abide by environmental protection laws. The ABCA are reminding people to first call them before they start any work, to find out if a permit is needed from them or not.
