School boards across the province are handing out COVID-19 Rapid Test Kits to all students, in a box of 5, for them to take throughout the holiday break to ensure that they are staying safe as they see family over the holidays and to ensure that they can have a safe back to school in the new year.
This is coming from the Ministry of Education, who is asking boards across the province to distribute the kits.
The Avon Maitland District School Board is one of the boards taking part in this initiative, and Communications Manager Chera Longston says that this is voluntary for families to do, but it is just an added protocol.
The instructions with the box of tests suggests that students take a test once every 3 or 4 days, and leave one test for the morning of January 3rd before they make their way back to school.
Longston did remind people that this is a test for asymptomatic testing, so if you or your child presents symptoms of COVID, get a proper PCR test, or if your rapid test comes back positive, also get a PCR test.
