She tells us the government pivoted based on data that says Omicron will impact 1 in 3 people with a positivity rate of 30.9 percent.
She says the spread is already being felt in the area.
Educators have been pushing for safer measures and the Ontario government has promised N95 masks, which have not arrived in many places.
We asked Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson about the proper fit for the N95s and when local schools can expect to receive shipments.
Thompson added that the government is working hard to ensure support is available as soon as possible.
Thompson says the government is working hard and doing everything possible for businesses.
Thompson was asked about when a decision would be made about any possible extensions to restrictions and she told myFM that all decisions will be made based on data.
