UPDATE AS OF FRIDAY MORNING:
Based on signs of improvement the Ontario government is cautiously lifting measures at long-term care homes starting on February 7th.
On February 7th, caregivers are numbers are increasing to four, and residents who have had at least 3 doses will be able to resume social day trips
Then on February 21st, visitors 5 and older with at least 2 doses of the vaccine will be able to resume visits at long-term care homes. All residents regardless of vaccination status will be able to resume day trips and anyone with 3 or more doses will be able to enjoy overnight social absences.

The province says it’s reviewing the ban on social visits in long-term care homes that was imposed in December to protect residents from the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
Long-Term Care Minister Paul Calandra says he’s working to ensure residents are safe as the sector continues to battle virus-related outbreaks, staff shortages and deaths.
