The OPP along with the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre have launched Fraud Prevention month.
2021 was a historic year for frauds with losses totalling $379 million up $164 million from 2020.
$142 million of the losses came from Ontario alone.
This year’s campaign will focus on impersonation scams, along with various frauds that prey upon vulnerable people and businesses.
Roughly only 5% of scams are actually reported, details how to report scams and losses can be found on our website.
