Some 16,000 faculty at Ontario’s 24 public colleges say they will go on strike at 12:01 a.m. Friday if the College Employer Council (CEC) does not agree to voluntary binding interest arbitration.
The faculty bargaining team sent an open letter to college presidents, calling on them to do what is right to ensure students are protected and their school year is protected.
College faculty, who are represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, have been working to rule since December.
OPSEU president Warren (Smokey) Thomas believes a deal can still be reached at the bargaining table.
