Ailsa Craig may be growing in the next few years.
North Middlesex Council approved a report by Dillon Consulting for the proposed Ausable Bluff Subdivision to be reviewed by the County of Middlesex.
The new subdivision would add 250 homes to the neighborhood, on 40 foot lots.
Phase 1 of the subdivision would extend off of Hamilton Street and Atkinson Street. If phase 2 starts, it will extend off of Mary Street.
Concerns were brought up about traffic increase, but residents are assured that there will be no need to expand roadways.
There were also concerns about a creek that runs through the southern end of the subdivision that drains into Ausable River, however, Stephanie Poirier the planner for North Middlesex assures that the waterway plan is in place for when the time comes.
Phase 1 of the subdivision will include two-story townhomes, whereas phase 2 may include one-story homes for people who may want to downsize. That is yet to be decided. Most of the homes will have full basements and be between 1500 and 1800 SqFT
There will be a walkway in the new subdivision that will lead to a new park for residents of Ailsa Craig.
The houses in the subdivision are all expected to sell, letting Ailsa Craig expand.
