Local police want to remind the public about the sextortion scam, after a local incident earlier this month.
Police were contacted on April 18th, after an adult victim shared intimate images online with a person, who then threatened to distribute them publicly if they were not paid $2000.
The victim contacted police and thankfully no money was exchanged.
If you find yourself in a similar situation, police say it’s best to cut off all contact, do not listen to the threats, and take screen shots and keep copies.
