The Town of St. Marys is commemorating National Day for Truth and Reconciliation which takes place on September 30th.
Everything starts at 9 AM with the raising of a special orange flag at town hall designed by Jeffrey Red George, an Ojibway artist who grew up in the community of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation.
At 10 AM local Indigenous educator Patsy Anne Day will lead a workshop at the Town Hall auditorium.
The Town will air a live stream of Remembering the Children, a national gathering in Ottawa at 1 PM.
All the events are free and everyone is encouraged to wear orange shirts to further raise awareness around the impacts of residential schools and to reinforce the idea that Every Child Matters.
