Running for the Mayors seat in Lambton Shores is longtime resident and volunteer Marilyn Smith.
Smith tells myFM while campaigning people have told her it’s time for change.
Smith says the Municipality needs to be more transparent with the community and to let the community help come up with solutions for issues such as affordable housing.
Smith says that 85% of taxes in the community are residential taxes an the communities should reflect that.
To help keep the communities in the Municipality connected, Smith says we could look into busing. Once the needs are taken care of in Lambton Shores then it may be worth looking into developing partnerships with neighboring municipalities.
She says that the communities in Lambton Shores are pretty good when it comes to recreation activities and facilities, except Grand Bend. She says the Rotary club has a great idea for a Recreation Centre and they should talk with the club about it.
Smith tells myFM that the communities are not getting what they need and that council needs to be more transparent.
Smith also talked about partnerships with Kettle and Stony Point First Nation. She says maybe some time down the road the two communities can connect nature trails.
When asked why you should vote for her, Smith says now is the time for change and leadership.
