To date, 27 people have died in collisions due to driving while impaired in the OPP West Region. That’s up from only 15 last year.
The OPP started their annual Festive RIDE campaign last week but this year holds more significance due to the increase in roadway deaths.
The campaign is an education initiative aimed to take impaired drivers off the roadways.
You can expect an increase in OPP presence until January 2nd and more RIDE programs 24/7 throughout the province.
