Avian flu has been identified locally in live poultry in Perth and Lambton Counties.
In Perth County, the animals were shipped by an independent third party to a plant.
Once the flu was detected the operator of the plant took immediate action, and none of the impacted poultry was sent out to the public.
Good news as the avian flu does not easily spread to humans, and fully cooked eggs and poultry are safe to eat, with the risk being low to the public.
