New Years eve is a time to be festive and merry – not a time to take your chances on the roadway.
Every year, the OPP stop someone starting off the new year on the wrong note by geting behind the wheel after a party.
That was Constable Ed Sanchuk.
He said there are plenty of other options if you want to go out and have a drink with friends and family.
When you go out drinking, the only way to sober up is time.
If you are out drinking until 1 a.m., hitting the road at 6 a.m. the next day just won’t cut it.
Sanchuk also wanted to stress the importance of not posting RIDE check locations online, their goal is to get impaired drivers off the road – and letting people know where to avoid increases their chances to hurt themselves or someone else on the road.
