The Ministry of Health has made it easier to get medications for 13 minor ailments.
Pharmacists are now able to prescribe treatments to some common infections and illnesses.
Pharmacist and owner of the Exeter Guardian, Sherif Behiry tells myFM that this decreases waiting times at hospitals and clinics.
Behiry says it does add pressure onto the pharmacy but he says they are prepared and ready to help people.
Behiry says with closures it does add more pressure on them.
He says if you feel you need one of the ailments pharmacists can prescribe, come in for an assessment. If your pharmacist can’t help you they may refer you to a physician.
Pharmacists can now now offer prescriptions for:
– Hay Fever
– Oral Thrush
– Pink eye
– Dermatitis
– Menstrual Cramps
– Acid reflux
– Hemorrhoids
– Cold sores
– Impetigo
– Insect bites and hives
– tick bites
– sprains and strains
– Urinary tract infections.
