Experts say cyberattacks are on the rise after a wave of such attacks on targets that have included the L-C-B-O and Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children in December.
Cybersecurity firm Check Point Canada says attacks are likely going to happen on a daily basis.
It says one reason is there are more technologies that enable the development of malware, scripting and other tools for potential hackers.
The Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst Centre at Toronto Metropolitan University says another reason is that the use of ransomware is growing as part of a multi-billion-dollar global crime industry.
