myFM has an update to a change in fares coming to Huron Shores Area Transit.
Starting on April 1st the transit system will bring back their original fare structure of $5 for local trips and $10 for long-distance trips.
Transit Coordinator, Susan Mills says the fee was dropped down to $5 to encourage ridership during the height of the pandemic but adds long-term that price point isn’t sustainable.
Last year over 7800 people rode Huron Shores Area Transit.
Mills says a few changes are remaining including children 12 and under who are travelling with an adult are free, as are support people who are travelling with those with different needs.
The Smart Card Monthly Pass is also increasing in price from $50 to $60 but that includes unlimited rides in a 31 day period.
HSAT passengers can test out the cost of their favourite trips at HuronShoresAreaTransit.ca/farecalculator/ where an easy-to-use online fare calculator can determine the cost of any trip within the HSAT service area. There’s also a printable fare chart.
