The Great Lakes are proof we are having a warmer winter than usual.
Temperatures are hovering at about 8°C locally, meaning there is little to no ice.
Ice has also dipped to a record low with only a combined 7.5% ice coverage on all the Great Lakes. The previous low was 8.5% in 2012.
Lake Huron peaked at 26% ice coverage at the beginning of the month (February). in 1994, 95% of the lake was covered and 40% was covered in ice in 2016.
We may see an early spring after all.
