A recent hockey protégé went viral on the app Tik Tok for his creativity.
When Spencer Heimrich, a 13 year-old Exeter native, told his mom not to come down stairs, as he was rearranging furniture, she didn’t expect to find a whole mini stick arena.
Spencer says he builds a mini sticks arena every year, but this one tops the charts.
The arena was complete with lines, nets, boards, and even sponsors.
The local internet sensation currently has just shy of 4 Million views on the video.
Julie Knoblauch-Heimrich, Spencer’s Mother, tells myFM she is so proud of his creativity.
The video gained some traction quickly, with big names such as the Chicago Black Hawks and LA Kings commenting.
The Black Hawks commented ‘The mini rink of our dreams” and the Kings saying ‘When can we come over?”
Other Tik Tok content creators, such as Nasher, Leroy and Leroy, Nick the Goalie and Pavel Barber, among many others have commended Spencer for his attention to detail.
Ontario Dairy, a sponsor of the Toronto Maple Leaf’s, even asked to send Spencer some goodies. Other brands like Canadian Tire, Montana’s and smaller businesses have even reached out to Spencer to ask for an ad on the boards and to send some swag his way.
Julie says Spencer had to move a few couches, an exercise bike, a table and chairs and a few other things to make his grand stadium.
As for how long the area will last, both Julie and Spencer seem to have different ideas.
“You should have seen the look on Spencer’s face when you asked that, he wants it there forever” said Julie. The live streams they do get upwards of 15,000 views.
All the comments on the video are positive. “A lot of people are reliving their youth through the video,” says Julie.
One user commented “As a 29 year old who misses playing knee hockey everyday with my friends, don’t take this down… a hole in the wall is nothing compared to the memories.”
Another user says “We need more kids like this willing to work to create something!”
