A bank robbery in the town of Arkona Tuesday. Lambton OPP say around 5:30pm, they were called to the Arkona Road Libro Credit Union branch. Details are few at this time, and Police say there is currently no description of the suspect but sources are saying some cellphones from staff members may have been taken as well.
myFM has received an official statement from Mike Donachie, Communications Manager, Libro Credit Union saying:
“We can confirm there was an incident at Libro’s Arkona location on April 4, 2023. We are working closely with police on this and would refer any further questions to the police service.”

OPP are looking for the public’s help as they investigate an armed robbery in Arkona. Police tell us on Tuesday at 5:20p.m., Police were contacted regarding an armed robbery that had taken place at a financial institution on Arkona Road being the Libro Credit Union.
Officers arrived and confirmed that no occupants sustained injuries during the incident. Police say 3 masked individuals went to the branch around 4:50 p.m., entered the building and locked the doors behind them.
A firearm was brandished during the robbery. The suspects fled the building after retrieving an unknown amount of Canadian currency from the vault and were last seen travelling southbound on Arkona Road.
If anyone has surveillance footage, including video doorbell systems, or dashcam video from the surrounding area in the time leading up to and following the incident, please contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
