If you’re looking for a way to make a difference in a young person’s life – your opportunity might be right around the corner.
Big Brothers and Sisters provide vital mentorship to young people in need of adult role models or companionship. Volunteers are usually matched up with a young person that shares some interests with them, meeting with them regularly and participating in activities like sports, board games, baking, or hiking.
Executive Director of Big Brothers and Big Sisters South Huron Amy Wilhelm says that there are a lot of little’s waiting for mentors,
Currently they’re helping relieve some of that stress through the work of some co-op students, however, when those students are no longer helping come July, there will be even more kids waiting for mentors.
Wilhelm says that there’s more demand for volunteers now than ever before,
Although there’s lots of volunteer opportunities out there in the community, Wilhelm says that this one makes a real difference in a young person’s life,
There are also other opportunities available besides mentorship, like joining their board of directors, helping with fundraisers, and volunteering at their children’s consignment store in Exeter.
