Skilled trades are what makes the world go ’round, and if you’re looking for your chance to start a stable, reliable, hands on career, Technical Training Group is running a manufacturing pre-apprenticeship multiple trades exposure program this summer.
Through a mixture of evening and weekend courses, a dozen trainees will receive 17 weeks of hands on, in class training, as well as an 8 week employment placement to prepare them for a trade in a variety of fields like welding, metal fabricating and machining.
Liz Baletto, Pre-Apprenticeship Program Manager with TTG says that the funding the program has removes barriers for access,
All you need is a high school diploma or GED to apply, and the range of applicants is diverse, says Baletto,
She says that the program hopes to provide opportunities for more people to enter skilled trades, and fill the gap we see in that labour market,
Local to us, the Clinton program starts in early July – with an application deadline of June 12th. There is also another one running in Listowel in September.
