Kids that want to slip between the pages of a book and into an adventure should be excited about the Huron County Library’s TD Summer Reading Program.
12 branches throughout the county will host hundreds of children age 4-12 for reading, crafts, and activities weekly starting in July. The Exeter Branch is running two sessions a week, on Fridays from 1-2 and 2-3.
Summer Literacy Co-ordinator Nadine vanBreda says that the program offers lots of fun activities for kids,
The theme for the summer is “Check This Out” and there’s a variety of themes planned including pirates, monsters, legends and more.
VanBreda says that this year’s theme has opened the door for a wide variety of activities,
She also says that reading can expose kids to new points of view, like different abilities, family structures, and life experiences,
Registrations are now open, and the program runs from July 3rd to August 25th.
Other locations for your local Summer Reading Program include Seaforth, Clinton, Brussels, Blyth, Wingham, Howick, Bayfield, Goderich, Hensall, Kirkton, and Zurich.
