A delegation from Huron County Pride once again approached South Huron Council to ask them to fly the Pride flag this month.
This comes after their previous letter was ignored on council’s agenda on May 15.
Huron County Pride’s Media Co-ordinator Meg Frayne said that the flag would be more than a symbol to the community,
Counsellor Aaron Neeb recognized the value of supporting all minority communities in South Huron,
Counsellor Neeb noted that usually, following the reception of a delegation, council discusses the isuses raised at a subsequent meeting, and said that he looked forward to the discussion.
Mayor George Finch stated that council hopes to remain forward-thinking,
The municipality does have a standing flag policy as of April 4th 2022, which dictates that only government flags be flown.
It joins several other municipal governments in the area that have declined to fly the flag on similar grounds, including Bluewater, and Central Huron.
