Following a breakneck legislative push to get ahead of this summer’s tourist season, The Municipality of Bluewater officially passed its short term rental by-law at a meeting on Monday (June 19).
Manager of Development Services Aaron Stewardson helped assuage any misgivings that members of council had, saying that they intend to work with the public to avoid implementing fines immediately,
It was also noted that existing by-laws regarding noise, occupancy, and other safety violations will continue to be enforced throughout the registration period.
Mayor Paul Klopp commended the staff and council for their work to get the by-law underway,
The first deadline for licensing is July 4th, for the Bayfield area.
Applications for licenses are now open, and can be found on the municipal website.
