Lambton County Council is exploring options for a potential inter-community transit service.
According to council, the need is now even greater than it was before the pandemic when the transit strategy was initially drafted – with the expansion of many rural population bases, and an ever increasing worker shortage rippling throughout the area.
There was also discussion about hopes that such a service would increase affordability, providing more access to commute from less expensive living areas, to higher earning jobs.
Grand Bend was also highlighted as a community that would benefit from such a service in both the tourism, and workforce sectors – while also providing access to post-secondary institutions for residents, through the bus service shuttling aspiring students to education in Sarnia.
A feasibility study is expected to be presented to council next month.
