Now that Zurich has officially completed it’s transition off of it’s local well system, Manager of Public Works Dave Kester approached council with a request to officially decommission the old wells.
At a council meeting on June 19th, Kester sought guidance from council, saying that officially recognizing the decommissioning of the old wells would enable them to access new grants.
Kester explained what decommissioning the wells would mean in a more practical sense.
The wells which had previously supplied Zurich’s drinking water through aquifers and were constructed in the 1960’s, were officially replaced with a link to the Lake Huron water line.
