It is officially summer time and people will be making plans to go out and about to explore the great outdoors.
But a volunteer with an animal shelter has some cautionary words to share.
Cathie Hoskin is reminding everyone that if you are traveling out and about – the best place for your pet to be is safe and cool at home.
With that, many people do take their dogs on car rides – which is perfectly fine, though you should be prepared.
Should a car breakdown, Hoskin suggests people have an emergency plan so that the dog can either leave the car with the owner, or someone can pick them up, so that they aren’t left in that blistering vehicle as you figure out the next steps.
She also wanted to talk about what to do if you come across a car with a dog inside – and the answer is not “smash the window in.”
On top of the risk of facing serious penalties, are you really making things much safer for the animal?
You need to contact the authorities if you feel that the animal is in distress.
