The average rents in the county have far outstripped the purchasing powers of people on Ontario Works, and ODSP, notes Hoffman whose maximum shelter allowances sit at $390 and $533 a month respectively.

Hoffman says that housing is a large and complex problem, and one that will take a lot of work to tackle,
The housing shortage is being addressed on every level of government, federally, provincially, in the county and municipalities,
