St. Peter’s Parish in St. Joseph is gearing up for a momentous occasion as it prepares to celebrate its 150th anniversary on July 9th. This milestone marks a significant chapter in the history of both the church and the town it has long been intertwined with.
To commemorate this remarkable achievement, a special community event has been planned, offering an opportunity for reflection, camaraderie, and a journey into the past.
Phil LaPorte is a member of the planning committee for the celebration, he says there’s going to be lots going on,
LaPorte says the history of the Church and the community that built up around it are interconnected,
He explains the Church has long been a centrepiece of the community, serving as a community hub throughout the generations,
LaPorte says everyone is welcome to join them to reflect on the history of the community and enjoy some food and fellowship.
He continues, adding the St. Joseph’s historical society will be presenting them with a display on the history of the Church.
