South Huron Council saw the request from Hillside Development to convert what was previously a church building on Main Street into a 10 unit boutique hotel.
The proposal was reviewed at a council meeting on Monday (June 10), with no major changes to the exterior of the building planned at this time. The interior plans include three stories (with a basement and loft), with laundry services, and landscaped grounds.
The project hopes to help meet the needs detailed in a recent market study, which identified a lack of quality lodging options in the area.
The existing building was completed in 1887, and served as a church community for Caven Presbyterian for a number of years.
