The Municipality of Bluewater is seeking public feedback on two proposed playground concepts for the Hensall Kinsmen Park.
municipality recently received a generous capital grant of $100,000 from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to replace the existing play structure with a new and accessible one.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation capital grants are designed to support organizations and communities in improving their sport and recreation facilities through renovations, repairs, and retrofitting.
Earlier this year, the municipality invited residents to provide input on the type of play equipment they would like to see in Hensall. Now, they are requesting feedback on two concept designs for the playground. The input collected from the community will assist the municipality’s staff and contractors in selecting the final design.
Option 1, designed for children between the ages of 2 and 12 incorporates a range of features, including a wheelchair ramp, an accessible canoe play feature, tic-tac-toe and piano panels, double and single slides, stairs, a funky stair, foothill climber, merry-go-round, u-sway balance feature, parallel bars, a suspended bridge known as “canyon crossing,” and flower-shaped climbers with accessible ring features. Additionally, the play structure will have a swing set with one heavy-duty swing with two belts, one tot swing, one accessible seat, and another regular seat.
Option 2 features a small straight slide, a wave slide, and a curved slide. Other play elements include a wheelchair ramp, Canadian wildlife memory game panel, braille clock panel, scavenger hunt panel, climbing ladder, peak climber, cube climber, channel climber, woodland café space beneath the play structure, gang plank, pebble path climber, merry-go-round, ring ladder, and spiral “orbiter” climbing bars. The swing set in this design will feature two belt seats, two tot seats, and one regular seat.
Bluewater Municipality encourages community members to review the two designs and provide their input. The survey will remain open until July 21st.
