Bedrock Energy Corp. is proposing an exciting new green energy project through a compressed air energy storage facility in Bluewater.
The facility will use two natural underground reservoirs – employing surplus energy during off-peak hours, compressed air will be stored, and released during peak hours, turning turbines and generating electricity for the grid.
According to Bedrock’s Tanya Mackie – Director of Project Management, the project repurposes old infrastructure,
The proposed facility boasts an impressive capacity of 500 megawatts, which can effectively power approximately 624,000 homes.
The project has no cost to the public, and will contribute to the community tax revenue through property taxes and provide job opportunities,
She estimates that around 800 jobs will be created during construction, with roughly 40 employees once it begins regular operations.
One of the significant advantages of the compressed air energy storage project is its inherent safety,

Once they receive approval from the appropriate authorities, the project will take around 48 months from the start of construction to become operational. They are optimistic about being fully operational by 2028.
They are hosting a public open house on July 25 from 4-7 pm at the Stanley Recreation Centre in Varna, where community members can ask questions, address concerns, and provide feedback.
