The Run Parlour in Clinton is set to officially open it’s doors tomorrow (Saturday, August 26) – and they’re selling more than just shoes, they’re selling community.
Owner Pete Meades says that the idea for the store was born out of observing a gap in the market,
When asked why he would open a brick and mortar store in an era where all goods are easily accessible online, Meades says they’re not just selling goods, they’re building a community of runners,
The shop will also offer apparel, including Meades’ own brand, Inherit the Earth,
He says that he hopes that the Run Parlour will be more than a store, he hopes to create a community hub – offering lockers for runners to leave their personal items, a gathering place in the back of the shop for coaching and classes, and fitting services for shoes.
Running is something that Meades says should be accessible to everyone, not just people that consider themselves to be “runners”,
They’re having their grand opening tomorrow, with a special shoe demos offered by New Balance – where you can go and run the block in a pair of shoes to see how they really work. They’re also having a 5k community run at noon, alongside great deals on shoes and apparel.
Even if running isn’t your thing, go on down, say hi, and welcome Huron County’s newest business.
