The myFM team at Sobey's in Grand Bend was all smiles!
The 90.5 myFM All Hands on Deck Food Drive presented by Hensall Major Appliance on August 17th was well supported by the community, but what were the results?
We sat down with Mary Ellen Zielman, Executive Director of the Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre, who were the recipients of the Food Drive this year – she says that the event was a massive success,
Food banks are often short of hygeine items, but she said there were a lot of donations from the food drive like feminine hygeine products, diapers, and deodorant, which the centre is always in need of.
She also said that there’s a lot of demand for school snacks for kids, which were also a common donation item the day of,
At the end of the day, 1848 pounds of items were donated to the centre, alongside a cash donation of $1350 and some grocery cards.
Zielman said that it was all due to the generosity of the community, with the drive being supported in Exeter at Hansen’s Independent Grocer, Foodland Exeter, and Sobeys Grand Bend,
