The Ontario government is allocating $73,942.76 to bolster the video surveillance programs of the OPP in Kincardine, Huron County, and the Town of Goderich. This funding, provided through the Ontario Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Grant Program, aims to enhance community safety by replacing outdated equipment, improving existing technology, and installing new CCTV surveillance cameras in areas with significant issues of gun and gang violence, illegal drug activity, and human trafficking.
Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce, expressed appreciation for the funding, emphasizing its role in ensuring community safety and boosting confidence in policing services. Kincardine, Huron County, and the Town of Goderich are among the 24 police services in Ontario benefitting from over $2.8 million allocated through the 2023-24 CCTV Grant program.
