Last Monday’s (September 18) South Huron council meeting saw heated discussions surrounding a delegation from the Huron Health System, which presented to council on September 5th a request for funding and council support on a healthcare committee.
Councilor Neeb stressed the importance of careful consideration, aligning decisions with the municipality’s financial reality and taxpayers’ capacity.
Councilor Oke volunteered for a potential committee, but Deputy Mayor Dietrich cautioned against a council member stepping into that role.
Councilor Neeb emphasized the need for more information before anyone council should commit to sitting on a committee.

Ultimately, the council directed staff to investigate Huron health system reports and provide a future report for consideration.
